During an appearance at the George Mason University, author Stephen King (Carrie, The Dark Tower) read an excerpt from his still in progress novel Dr. Sleep. The book is confirmed to be a sequel to his classic The Shining, which was adapted into a cinematic classic by Stanley Kubrick and starred Jack Nicholson as a writer gone mad in a haunted hotel.

King began musing about the possibility of a sequel to The Shining in 2009 and two years later he's already begun work. The follow-up apparently includes something blatantly absent from the original though - vampires. In Dr. Sleep, a traveling group of vampires called 'The Tribe' are involved. It's not known in what capacity, but when King read an excerpt from the novel, this plot item was mentioned. The story would also involve a grown up Danny Torrance, who fans may remember as the son who utters the memorable 'Red Rum' phrase.
